...And the sketching goes ever onward as you can see in my sketchbook. I keep discovering new ways to make shades and marks. I never new the pencil could be such a versatile tool until I saw a series of video tutorials about how to draw.

In other news... I've finally leveled my warrior Gormash to level 60, getting him an epic mount and I've started questing in the Outlands. Gahhh... I had forgotten how annoying I found Hellfire Peninsula.
The spawnrate there is baffling, as I wrote in my Black Temple blog.

I've also dug out my copy of Watchmen and started reading it again after watching the Watchmen trailer. It's been MANY years since I thought about that comic last.
It's one of the deepest and most thought-inducing comics (or perhaps I should say "graphic novel"?) out there, so if you've never heard about it before: GO BUY IT!!!

I've gone ahead and purchased several books about drawing and painting, and a healthy selection of pencils and sketchpads. Over the past week and half I've been sketching like nothing else.
Check out my sketchbook for a quick look at a few of them.

I've also started on a portrait project. Check out my Undertaker for a look at the progress (updated every time something major is changed or added).
It goes without saying that I'll add it to DevianArt once it's finished. ;)

For the past month or so I've been trying to learn how to draw by watching online tutorials and reading up a bit. My hope is that I'll be able to both improve my techniques and that I'll eventually be able to draw realistic looking humans. Or at leas realistic-er than what I've done so far.

I've sketched a lot on paper, some of it quite good (compared to what I've done before. I've not poked myself hard enought to actually connect the scanner and install the drivers, though, so I can't share any of these pieces yet.

As a result of this newfound interest I've added another category to my Gallery, "humans", where I intend to store anything I've done involving anatomical drawings and suchlike.

By the way, if you know of any (free) online resources you'd recommend I'd love to hear from you. Take care folks... ^_^

A new love!

I've discovered ArtRage, and I absolutely love it. ^_^
I can't really say why, but the simplicity of this application keep making my creative juices flow in a way Photoshop CS2 doesn't.

I only hope it'll keep doing so. :)
